This study consists of the application of hydrothermal indicators to assess the nature of the production-destruction process in the soil-vegetation system. For the first time in the Martuk district of the Aktobe region, the intensity of the production-destruction process was assessed using balance equations according to the method of A. A. Titlyanova. The object of the study is the vegetation cover of dry steppes of Martuk district of Aktobe region. The subject of the study is the identification of the influence of climatic and microclimatic conditions on the dynamics of productivity and intensity of the productivity-destructive process of the main associations. The application of minimum bioproductivity estimation equations made it possible to calculate a number of dynamic variables for the plant-soil system that are not directly measurable. It has been established that one of the main factors limiting the production and destructive process in plant communities is their water and temperature regime.
