this article presents the results of the initial stage of formation and development of environmental competence in
the study of chemistry at school and extracurricular activities, the content and methods of modeling. The research hypothesis
provides effective conditions for the process of forming the level of environmental competence of students in the conduct of
chemical research. Directed competency description covers information on environmental protection, improving environmental
thinking of students in extracurricular activities, the use of individually-oriented tasks, information and service methodological
approaches as the basis of design and research work of students. The methodological basis of the study is a model based on the
competence approach and aimed at students.
