Modern general and higher education is characterized by an active transition to the use of new information technologies. The article focuses on the application of GIS-technologies in education. The article describes the essence of the concept of GIS, the possibility of its use in the educational space. This article provides a brief overview of the MapInfo software as one of the tools for creating electronic maps for various purposes and integrated solution of applied problems.
