Abstract

The article presents results of studying the effect of ultraviolet radiation (207 nm) on corrosion resistance, hardness and adhesion of alkyd paint and varnish coatings. Studies of the corrosion resistance of coatings by the method of polarographic curves in a saturated solution of sodium chloride showed that irradiation of alkyd paint coatings with ultraviolet radiation leads to an increase in their corrosion resistance to aggressive media due to an increase in continuity, smoothness and adhesion. It has been found that an increase in the duration of irradiation contributes to an increase in the corrosion resistance and hardness of the coatings.
