Abstract

The paper presents data on the pollution of melt water by heavy metals. The materials for the investigation were
selected. The samples of water were taken by using envelope method on laid key plots. During the investigation of pollution of
melt waters, the presence of heavy metals was determined. The concentrations of Cu, Co, Ni, Mn, Cd, Zn, Pb are determined
in a layer of snow cover in the city of Astana byatomic absorption methods. The results of the studies showed the presence
of heavy metals in the surface layers of snow cover. The most typical composition of pollutants includes Cr, Cu, Cd, Pb, Zn,
Ni. Their significant concentrations are in the range of mg / l. Based on a comparative analysis of the data, it shows that the
content of heavy metals in all water samples is lower than the existing MAC. The presence of heavy metals in the melt water
is due to air pollution, mainly from the anthropogenic impact of motor vehicles. These facts indicate that the region needs to
be periodically monitored for the presence of heavy metals in atmospheric air and snow cover in order to take the necessary
measures in case of exceeding the limit statutory indicators.
